Is SAFA Driving Academy an MTO-Approved BDE Course Provider?
Yes. SAFA Driving Academy is a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) Course Provider. You can visit the Ontario Government website for a complete list of approved course providers in Ontario.
Why should I choose a driving school for driving lessons?
Enrolling in a professional driving school offers several advantages, including:
- Insurance Discounts – The Driver’s Licence History provides proof of successful completion of and graduation from a BDE course and is widely recognized by the insurance industry as proof of course completion. BDE graduates with a Driver’s Licence History may be eligible for an insurance discount.
- Shorter G2 Road Test Wait Time – With a BDE certification, you can take your G2 road test after 8 months instead of the standard 12-month waiting period.
What is a BDE course?
A BDE (Beginner Driver Education) course is a government-approved driver training program designed to equip new drivers with the necessary skills and knowledge to become safe and responsible motorists. This course can only be taken at a Ministry-approved driving school.
What is included in your full BDE course package?
Our full course package consists of:
- 20 hours of digital (online) instruction
- 10 hours of private in-car training with a certified instructor
- 10 hours of homework link program for additional learning
Is there a time limit to complete the BDE course?
Yes. The BDE course must be completed within one (1) year from your registration date.
Do I need to complete my online course before starting in-car lessons?
As per ministry regulations, you can only begin your in-car lessons once the online part of the course is completed. You must also provide:
– A valid driver’s license
– Proof of full course payment
Once these are provided, we will connect you with your assigned in-car instructor to schedule your driving lessons.
When can I book my road test?
The standard waiting period for a G2 road test is 12 months after obtaining your G1 license.
If you complete our BDE course, you become eligible for your G2 road test in just 8 months.
Why should I choose SAFA Driving Academy?
At SAFA Driving Academy, our goal is to provide high-quality driver training to ensure our students become safe, responsible drivers. Our experienced instructors offer patient and professional guidance to learners across Ajax, Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering, and Bowmanville
Am I guaranteed an insurance discount after completing the BDE course?
Not necessarily. While a Driver’s Licence History serves as recognized proof of BDE course completion, insurance discounts are not guaranteed. Each insurance company has its own policies and eligibility criteria, so students should confirm directly with their insurer regarding potential discounts.
I have anxiety about driving. Can your instructors help?
Yes! Our instructors are specially trained to assist nervous drivers and those experiencing driving anxiety. We offer a patient, supportive, and stress-free learning environment.
Can I use a driving school car for my road test?
Yes. You may rent one of our instructors’ vehicles for your road test at an additional cost (available for both in-town and out-of-town road tests).
How can I book my road test?
You can book your road test by:
– Calling 1-888-570-6110
– Visiting www.drivetest.ca
– Alternatively, you may request your instructor to book the test on your behalf.
What is your refund policy?
– If a student withdraws before attending any instructional sessions, a $50 administrative fee will be deducted, and the remaining amount will be refunded.
– If a student withdraws after completing one hour of in-car training, a $50 administrative fee plus the cost of the completed in-car lesson will be deducted.
– No refunds will be issued after 90 days of registration or after the student has completed two or more in-car lessons.
How do I cancel or reschedule my driving lessons?
– To reschedule an in-car lesson, contact your assigned instructor directly.
– A $25/hour fee will be charged if a student misses a lesson without providing at least 24 hours’ notice.
